The company's name AMAAMO
comes from a mix of two Spanish verbs ama and amo. Ama is the third-person
singular (he, she) present indicative form of amar (to love) and
amo is the first-person singular (I) present indicative form of
amar (to love). When put together translates to he/she loves and
I love.
AMAAMO is a small screen printing studio of paper and apparel based
in Brooklyn, New York. Born in the Spring of 2008 to graphic designer
Leslynette Vega, but dreamed of since her childhood.
Every item in the shop is hand silkscreened and designed by Leslynette
with the help and support of her loving boyfriend and partner in
crime, Stephen Wishart.
Our original designs are inspired mainly by Puerto Rico (Leslynette
was born and raised in PR) and Latin America's people, history,
culture, texture, colors and rhythm.
The mission of our designs is to expose and connect our clients
with the latin soul through a modern, youthful and unique apparel
line with symbolic and decorative motifs complemented with a textural,
colorful and vibrant stationery line, elaborated posters and much
more.
We are very conscious of our surroundings and mother earth, therefore
we only use water-based inks and recycled paper causing less impact
to the environment.
